Five ways you can take care of your hair this summer

Protect from Sun Damage:

  • It's easy to forget about our hair when it comes to sun protection, but it is so easy to get sunburn on your scalp/hairline and damage your hair. To help this, wear a hat or use a scarf to shield your hair from direct sunlight.
  • Apply hair products with UV protection to prevent damage from the sun's rays. You can even buy specific sun protection sprays for your hair, like this Calypso Scalp Protection Spray SPF50.

Hydrate and Condition:

  • Use a deep conditioning treatment once a week to maintain moisture levels in your hair.
  • Apply a leave-in conditioner to keep your hair hydrated, especially if you're swimming in chlorinated pools or saltwater.

Avoid Excessive Heat Styling:

  • Minimize the use of heat styling tools like hairdryers, curling irons, and straighteners. With beach waves still being really popular, maybe try putting your wet hair in plaits after washing to allow your hair to dry naturally whilst also styling it.
  • Opt for air-drying your hair or use the cool setting on your hairdryer.

Regular Trims:

  • Get regular trims every 6-8 weeks to prevent split ends and keep your hair looking healthy.
  • Trim off any damaged or dry ends to promote healthier hair growth.

Gentle Hair Care:

  • Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair when it’s wet to prevent breakage.
  • Opt for sulfate-free and gentle shampoos that don’t strip your hair of its natural oils.

By following these tips, you can maintain healthy and vibrant hair throughout the summer season.
