Three simple ways to feel a bit more glamorous as a busy mum

As the winter nights and rainy days draw in I’m always left feeling a bit meh at this time of year. Busy parenting schedules and preparing for the Christmas period can mean that busy mums don’t prioritise themselves as often as they should, leaving us feeling a bit rubbish! Sitting at the hairdressers today watching my daughter get her hair cut ( I can’t remember when I last booked myself in for a proper cut) I caught a glimpse of myself in those awful mirrors (why do I never look good in those huge hairdresser mirrors??) I realised that I have been neglecting myself a bit recently. So I have been trying to come up with some small ways that I can take a bit of extra care of myself, which ultimately makes me feel a bit better

Three simple ways to feel a bit more glamorous as a busy mum:

1. Elevate Your Everyday Look

  • Swap out your usual loungewear for something equally comfy but stylish, like a chic jumpsuit or a flowy midi dress. If you feel like you’re stuck in a bit of a rut when it comes to style, I always find it helpful searching for inspiration on how I can elevate my look on Pinterest. Creating a Pinterest board dedicated to your new style can help you put together lots of different styles and ideas and make you feel more excited than daunted about changing your look.
  •  Add a touch of glamour with accessories: statement earrings, a layered necklace, or a scarf. Small changes can make a big difference, so it’s time to search your wardrobe for those little extras that you don’t normally wear day-to-day
  • Change your hairstyle - There are some great products out there like heatless rollers that you put in overnight that can leave you with beautiful curls the next day (with a bit of practice). An even cheaper trick would be to plait your hair to give you some waves the following day. Pinterest and Youtube are also full of lots of handy tutorials for easy updos if you (like me) love having your hair up and out of your face.

2. Try some Quick Beauty Boosts

                  •               Focus on a 5-minute makeup routine: a tinted moisturizer, mascara, and a bold lip colour can instantly make you feel polished. I’m a big fan of cc or bb cream at the moment, it really improves how my skin looks. Gadgets like eyelash curlers can add a bit of extra length and help keep your lashes in shape for longer too.

                  •               Try a spritz of your favourite perfume or a scented body mist for an instant mood lift. It’s easy to leave perfume for ‘special occasions’ then they actually never get used, so treat every day as a special occasion.

3. Treat Yourself to Mini Moments of Luxury

  • If you can spare an extra 10 mins during your shower try a face of hair mask for some extra nourishment.
  • Treat your nails to an at-home manicure with a glossy polish or nail stickers.
  • Apply a bit of fake tan if you have time, having a healthy skin  glow can give you a much needed boost. My favourite Fake Tan at the moment is the Bondi Sands Range. I use the foam as it is so easy to apply and I can see exactly where I have covered. I usually put this on in the evening, leave it overnight then shower it off in the morning. As long as I wear long sleaved and legged pjs I don't find I stain my bedding at all.

A few little tweaks can make you feel glam while still keeping things practical and mum-friendly! Are there any other go two easy things that you do to elevate your look?
